Just as we left Kinko's in Amarillo Texas, I look west and see this awesome sunset,
so I just had to grab my camera and snatch it.
We
now cross into Texas panhandle. This part of the trip is BORING Nothing but FLAT
FLAT FLAT... as far as the eye can see. I can imagine what it must look like to the
early explorers with millions of buffalo... Certainly Cowboy land, that's for sure...
It being my turn to drive, I stop at this small country store to pick up some "Programming
Fluid" or Caffeine fix... When I ask for milk or cream, the owner complained
that "Business is so slow, I can't keep milk before it all gets spoiled".
I go into my spiel about how his store can benefit from having a web page. I told
him... "Have you ever considered putting up a WEB page, showcasing all those
items you haven't sold yet?", He says... "I'm scared of the Internet...
Too many people lose their wives from it". I ask him to explain, because it
was the first time I heard this, and he said... "people are meeting on it, and
running off to get married". I said "Where have you heard this from?",
he says "Ann Landers". I had to turn away to keep him from seeing me laugh.
I then said, "Yea, people are always afraid of new things and technology",
but you shouldn't believe what's being written in the newspapers. You should draw
your own conclusions by finding someone who's already on it, and ask them to show
you around.
I thought about asking him if I could take some pictures and put them up on my site
and saying "Buy from this dude, he can use your business", but a few people
had just walked in the store, and Radion was pushing me to hit the road.
So, this shows that there is a lot of education needed, especially in rural areas
where people are more resistant to change.

We head out, but before I leave, I snapped this picture of the countryside of
the Texas Panhandle.
